A lorry fire on the M6 northbound is causing delays for drivers this morning.
The incident happened overnight (Wednesday April 19) between junctions 36 and 37 near Kendal.
Earlier, the motorway was completely shut in both directions following the incident.
As rush hour approached emergency service had closed two lanes on the northbound carriageway which was causing up to 30 minutes of delays. The southbound carriageway was reopened earlier as the clean up continued.
North West Highways said: “The M6 northbound between J36 and J37 near #Kendal #Cumbria LANES CLOSED 2 lanes (of 3) remain closed following a lorry fire earlier this morning. Causing a delay of 30 mins and congestion for approximately 4 miles Allow extra time if heading that way this morning.”
