A vehicle fire closed two lanes on the northbound carriageway on the M6.
The incident happened this morning (Monday April 17) and National Highways said emergency services have been called to deal with the incident.
National Highways said: "Lanes 1 & 2 (of 3) are closed on the M6 in Lancashire northbound between J33 and J34 due to a vehicle fire.
"Lancashire Fire and Rescure and National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance. "Delays of 35 minutes above normal travel times, please allow extra time for your journey."
A further update at 12.15pm said the scene has been cleared and all lanes had now reopened.
