A leading textile manufacturer in East Lancashire officially has the royal stamp of approval by creating the bespoke hat linings for King Charles III.

DHJ Weisters Ltd, based in Darwen, has helped to dress many royals and famous faces, including Beyonce and Holly Willougby, by supplying to fabric for their dresses and accessories.

Caroline Weisters, sales and marketing manager for Bridal Fabrics which is a subsidiary of DHJ Weisters Ltd, said: “One of our clients, Marcel Rodrigues, is a hat maker based down south in Cornwall.

"He was commissioned to make some hat linings for the king.

“He approached us and our designers worked with him on the king’s crest, which was then approved by the palace.

“We then began manufacturing that hat lining for the king.”

The hat lining is adorned with King Charles III crest with two flowers either side.

One flower is lily of the Valley, which was the Queen’s favourite flower. The other is one of the King’s favourite flowers that has been named after him, a Clematis White Prince Charles.

The company’s list of royal links doesn’t end there.

It stocks a lace called "Kate" that was one of the lace designs featured in Kate Middleton’s wedding dress.

It also provided the fabric used for Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh’s wedding dress.

Caroline, who is married to managing director Duncan Weisters, said it is a honour to be associated with royalty.

She said: “I think it’s wonderful to be associated with royalty especially as we have such a legacy of textile manufacturing in this area and country.”

The company also has also supplied fabric for clothes donned by "the Queen of pop" Beyonce, This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby and Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly.

Caroline said it is nice that the "hidden gem" and unassuming company is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

She said: “We have always been in the background, as we are only the providers of fabric – not the designer or creators.

“You wouldn’t necessarily know the lace and fabric came from us. It is nice to have some recognition.

“We’ve been doing this for quite a long time now and we are quite well known in our sector, but not to the general population.

“It’s great to have some exposure and credibility.”

DHJ Weisters Ltd was established in 1932, known for providing fabrics for ties, wedding attire, furnishing fabrics and beyond.
