A lane remains closed on the M65 while emergency services deal with a vehicle fire.
Earlier this afternoon (August 5), traffic was stopped between junction eight and junction 10, westbound, while crews try to get control of a vehicle blaze.
Two lanes and the entry slip road at junction nine have now opened. Lane 1 remains closed at this stage to recover the vehicle involved.
There were severe delays of 26 minutes between junction 11 and junction eight.
Delays remain on the approach and people are being asked to take extra time for their journey.
A tweet by National Highways reads: "Update... On the M65 west between J9 and J8 near Burnley. Lanes 2 and 3 of 3 and the entry slip road at J9 are now open.
"Lane 1 of 3 is remaining closed at this stage to recover the vehicle involved.
"Please allow extra time for your journey as delays remain on the approach."
