FIREFIGHTERS have been battling a large pallet fire in Great Harwood this afternoon, Sunday.
Five fire engines with specialist equipment including an aerial ladder and a drone were sent to Queen Street after a blaze involving 2,000 wooden pallets broke out at around 2.35pm.
The crews put out flames using jets, small tools and breathing equipment with firefighters still at the scene.
At 4.50pm, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the incident was reduced to two fire engines as crews dampen down hotspots.
A couple of hours later, at around 6.50pm, the fire service said the blaze had been extinguished.
Harwood Lane and Park Road were closed off due to the incident, police reported.
No-one is reported to have been hurt and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
