A BODY which was found in a stretch of canal in Blackburn is thought to be that of a local man in his 50s.
Police officers were called to the Liverpool and Leeds Canal close to Warwick Court in the town on Wednesday morning, following reports of a body in the water.
Upon their arrival a man was discovered in the canal and a forensic tent was set up. They remained at the scene throughout the day while investigations were carried out.
A spokesman said: "The deceased is believed to be a local man in his 50s. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner."
