A sinkhole has been reported on a major road in Oswaldtwistle with motorists urged to be careful.
The incident was reported by Hyndburn police around 7:30pm this evening, with local politicians also bringing this to the public's attention.
A post from Hyndburn police said: "Please be aware of a small sinkhole that has appeared on Union Road Oswaldtwistle at the junction of Roe Greave Road.
"The sinkhole is directly in the middle of the road."
It also confirmed that Lancashire County Council were aware of it and attending the incident.
Sara Britcliffe MP and Oswaldtwistle County Councillor Peter Britcliffe also posted to make locals aware of the sinkhole.
Cllr Britcliffe posted on Facebook saying: "Hole in the road at Pelican Crossing and Union Road, Oswaldtwistle. Danger to motorists. Take care.
"Both Sara and I have reported this and it should be dealt with shortly."
Sara Britcliffe also posted a picture on Facebook, with a picture of repairs taking place, saying: "I reported this sink hole today on Union Road when a resident brought it to my attention.
"LCC emergency response officer is on site and they have requested a traffic management team, who are now on their way to protect the area and make safe until further investigation work can be carried out."
