Peter Kay has slammed a Channel 5 documentary about his life, calling its title "incredibly misleading."
'Peter Kay: In His Own Words' is set to air tonight and features interviews with showbiz friends including Pete Waterman, Jenny Powell and Bobby Davro.
However, the programme is set to feature old interviews with the comedian instead of newly recorded material.
In a Twitter post, a statement said: "Very flattering of Channel 5 to commission the programme going out tonight, but just to let people know that 'Peter Kay: In His Own Words' has an incredibly misleading title, as it doesn't feature any new interviews with Peter and all the footage is completely historic.
"The title also gives the impression that Peter has been involved in the making of this documentary, which he hasn't. At all."
The film will chart the comic's rise from Bolton to performing record-breaking arena tours, while classic comedy routines, along with some rare gems and clips from his hit TV series will feature.
The programme is airing tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
