A VILLAGE school in The Gambia has benefitted from donations from a Burnley-based charity.
The Furniture for Education Worldwide organisation, based in Ruskin Street, has donated furniture and educational supplies to the village of Bondali school, based in the West African country.
Posting on social media, Keith Bolam, from the charity, said: "This is the expanded Bondali village school.Initially funded by an Englishman the school consisted of three classrooms and one office.
"This is the block with the green roof in the background.
"Our contribution was to provide furniture and educational supplies. The initial project also included a solar powered borehole water supply. The government has now stepped in with amazing support.
"The new block to the left of the photo is for teachers accommodation, while the large block to the right of the photo is new classrooms.
"The borehole that we installed is in the neighbouring village of Jorreng, whose children attend this school.
