A GATEWAY into Burnley has been given a facelift.
Commissioned by Habergham Eaves Parish Council, the project involved creating a quiet oasis on an area of land next to the former Bull and Butcher pub, in Manchester Road.
New flooring was put in along with a stone boundary wall as well as a living Christmas tree and a bench.
A boundary stone featuring a Burnley Civic Trust blue plaque marking the site of the historic Buttercross has also been installed.
Landscape Engineering of Padiham designed and carried out the work after the council won a grant from Lancashire County Council's priority neighbourhood funding scheme.
The council's clerk, Rebecca Hay, said: "The council has looked after this area for years and we decided it needed a make over as the previous scheme was looking tired.
"Thanks to the kindness of the councillors who earmarked the money for the scheme, we have been able to provide an area for people to enjoy and we hope it will be well used.''
