PLANS for the Ribble Valley's first "glamping holiday" site has been approved by council officers.
The new development was proposed as part of a new tourism venture at Moorgate Farm, Dinckley in Langho.
The site, which until now has been used for agricultural land purposes, will be made into a camping facility for eight camping pods and an associated car parking area for eight cars will be provided next to the buildings at the farm.
There will also be a drop-off space and two disabled spaces formed close to the pods.
The pods will be made of timber and each will be able to accommodate up to four adults or a family of five.
Each pod will include a fitted kitchen and bathroom.
The company's director, Mr Charles Gulland, supported the application in a letter to the council.
He said: "We have visited the site and met Mr and Mrs McDonnell and feel they have the passion and commitment to set up and operate a successful and sustainable business. It is our opinion that the proposed site in Dinckley, on the land attached to Moorgate Farm, would be a unique and high quality destination.
"It is important to emphasise that the Wigwam brand would attract visitors to the area and not displace existing business."
The application was approved by Ribble Valley Borough Council with 14 conditions.
The conditions included a requirement to work in accordance with the business operator with the management plan.
An additional condition was to restrict camping pod occupancy to 90 days per calendar year.
The application was resubmitted after Ribble Valley Borough Council rejected the previous one.
The previous was rejected because of the council was concerned it would have a detrimental impact on the appearance of the environment and landscape.
Group bookings from family groups, church and social groups will be accepted with prior direct arrangement with the site.
None other than the named guests can occupy the pods overnight.
Guests have been asked to comply with the parking regulations and show consideration when entering and leaving the site.
Any guest found to be breaking any of the site rules and codes of conduct have been told they will have to leave the site immediately without any refund.
Bookings will be taken from Wigwam Holiday's website and via telephone directly to the site.
