TWO separate lorry fires caused major traffic congestion on the M65 between junctions 9 and 11 around Burnley this morning.
Five crews from Fire and Rescue Services station at Hyndburn, Nelson and Burnley stations were turned out to the rush hour incidents.
Vehicle flow along the affected section of the motorway was affected for more than a hour.
Shortly before 8am three fire engines from Burnley and Nelson attended a fire involving a heavy goods vehicle on the eastbound of the M65 motorway between junction 10 and 11. On arrival, firefighters reported a fire in the back of the lorry which was parked on the hard shoulder.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire which involved 30 kilograms of paper. No injuries were reported.
Two fire engines from Hyndburn and one from Nelson attended a fire involving the engine compartment of a heavy goods vehicle on the hard shoulder of the M65 Eastbound between junction 9 and 10.
Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish fire. No one was injured.
