SEVEN people have been arrested after a hit-and-run which left a pensioner with head injuries.

The 74-year-old woman was hit by a grey Audi A3 as she crossed Colne Road after the Churchill Way roundabout in Brierfield at 8.25pm on Sunday.

She was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital by ambulance and is still receiving treatment there.

Seven people in total have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Two men from Brierfield, age 25 and 21, have been bailed until July 14.

Two men, aged 58 and 30, and a woman age 26, all from Brierfield, and a 32-year-old man from Nelson have been released on bail until July 14.

A 31-year-old man from Nelson who was arrested has been released no further action.
