A 999 call was placed by the owner of the adjoining house after he discovered the flames coming from the garage himself.
Crew manager Lee Pickup said: "When we arrived on the scene the garage, which had two Mini cars inside, was well alight."
Firefighters ensured that the incident was contained within the garage. Both of the cars were left seriously damaged.
Mr Pickup confirmed that the cause of the fire was believed to be suspicious and was being probed by specialist officers from the fire service and Lancashire Constabulary.
