FORMER Premier League striker Brett Ormerod has revealed it is his wife who has applied to open a branch of sandwich shop Subway in Blackburn, and not him.
The 38-year-old, who was born in Blackburn, made national headlines when he said in an interview that he was looking to branch out into the world of sandwiches.

He said: “People assume all footballers are millionaires, but I’m not. I don’t think Lisa will let me make the sandwiches but I’ll do the sweeping up. I’ve not got an ego – you’re not allowed one in my family.”
After the story spread across the internet, Ormerod, who played for Accrington Stanley and this season has been turning out for Padiham, said on Twitter that it was in fact his wife who was keen on opening the shop.
He said: “Just to clear up the Subway story, my wife has bought the franchise, I will have nothing to do with it.”
