THE body discovered by the River Blakewater in Blackburn has been identified as that of 60-year-old Alan Mcmillan.
At around 3.40pm on Monday, police were alerted to Mr McMillan’s body in a canal overflow which forms part of the river, close to the bottom of Alder Bank.

His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a post mortem is to take place tomorrow. Mr McMillan was from the Audley area of the town.
DC Mark Hutchinson, of Blackburn CID, said: “Next of kin have now been informed and are being supported by officers at this difficult time.
“A neighbour raised concerns about his whereabouts on March 26 and his body was found four days later.
“We urge anyone that may have any information about his whereabouts to get in touch so that we can establish exactly how he came to end up in the river.”
