SCHOOL children were evacuated after their bus caught fire yesterday afternoon.
Two fire crews from Accrington attended the scene in Enfield Road, Huncoat, shortly after 3.30pm.
The firefighters battled the blaze for half an hour and the driver evacuated the children from the bus.
Watch manager Tony Spencer said: “An engine fault caused smoke to travel up the inside of the bus and into the top deck while it was travelling along the road.
“The driver had evacuated the bus before we arrived on the scene.”
Police blocked the road off and the bus was towed away.
