Burnley striker Charlie Austin has been convicted of common assault following an incident in Swindon.
Austin was fined £1,800 and ordered to pay £1,320 in costs after being found guilty of assault at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday.
The striker was involved in an altercation at the Bushwackers nightclub in October 2012.
He had denied assault, and claimed he was acting in self-defence.
A statement issued by Burnley Football Club said: "Burnley Football Club deeply regrets that one of its employees has faced court action in relation to their personal behaviour.
"The club does not condone law breaking of any kind. However, the Club recognises the sometimes unwanted attention that is at times thrust upon some of its players.
"The Club will continue to stress with all employees the importance of acting as positive ambassadors - even in difficult and unwanted circumstances.
"The club will make no further comment on this matter at this time."
