A NEAR-naked woman was ‘held on display for maximum embarrassment’ after being chased out of her home by her partner.
Blackburn magistrates heard witnesses said Rebecca Ford was ‘cowering in fear’ as her partner, Carl Daniel Raynor, shouted abuse at her. Police called at 6.30am found Raynor frothing at the mouth, and had to use a Taser to subdue him before he could be arrested.
Raynor, 25, of Shear Brow, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assault-ing Miss Ford and using threat-ening behaviour. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Raynor and the aggrieved had to be taken to hospital after the incident as a result of their drug taking.
“It seems they both get into psychotic states when they have taken drugs,” said Miss Allan.
She said Miss Ford had run from a house in Ormerod Street screaming and shouting. A witness on his way home from a night out described her as cowering away from Raynor who was only wearing a pair of jeans. “He said she looked really scared and he felt sorry for her,” said Miss Allan.
Another witness, on her way to work, described Miss Ford as being really upset. “She said it was as though he was holding Miss Ford on display for maximum embarrassment,” said Miss Allan.
Miss Allan said police described Raynor as ‘uncontrollable’ because of his drug-induced state.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said Raynor had previously been diagnosed as having acute psychosis and had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act in the past. He said on the night of the incident they had both been taking amphetamine and were staying at her mother’s house in Accrington. He said: “There was an argument about religion and she ran from the house and he followed. Whether he was publicly displaying the lady’s nudity is a matter of speculation. They were both in a state.”
