A teenager from Blackpool has been nominated for a British Soap Award for his role in Hollyoaks.

14-year-old Jayden Fox has been nominated for the ‘best young performer’ award for his role as Bobby Costello in the Channel 4 soap.

Jayden, who is a student at Baines High in Poulton-le-Fylde and is currently attending Scream Theatre Schools in Blackpool, has been playing the ‘villainous’ role of Bobby Costello since 2018.

The role of Bobby Costello was a rollercoaster for Jayden as his character, in recent years, took a dark turn after his on-screen mum, Mercedes, played by Jennifer Metcalfe, spiralled into a self-destructive nature, leading to Bobby becoming obsessed with protecting her.

The storyline lead to the demise of three characters. After Bobby’s crimes were discovered in December last year, Bobby was arrested and sentenced to a juvenile detention centre where he currently resides.

Jayden said:  “I’m delighted to be nominated for this award. I’m so thankful to have such a great support network who have backed me on this venture… I’m excited to attend the awards ceremony, it’s going to be an amazing experience.

Jayden’s parents said: “As parents, you want your child to be happy and Jayden is happiest when he’s performing. To be nominated and recognised for his talent is amazing.”

Jessica Bell senior agent at Scream Management, said: “His role was an exciting one and Jayden played his part so well we were hooked.

“He is an amazing determined young actor and is really going to excel in his craft … we are excited for his next chapter.”
